Nepal: The Mountain Kingdom

How to Reach?

Kathmandu is well connected by buses and there are frequent flights from New Delhi airport to Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu.

Prepare for breathtaking view of the Himalayas as you approach the mountains.





Immigration: Indian national do not need a Visa and freely enter and exist Nepal. Just present your passport.

Where to Stay? 

Thamel is a touristy area that you can stay in however, it will be slightly expensive.

Where to Eat?
You can try any of the restaurants and road side eateries. The chaat eateries are run by quite a few Indian immigrants and the taste of the food is quite similar to what you get home. The Newari cuisine is local to Nepal and you can try that in addition to the Tibetan Momo and the like.


Local Commute? 

There is an outer ring road that runs around Kathmandu. You can use that to travel around Kathmandu easily. The public and private buses on the ring road charge a reasonable fare. The Taxi's can be quite expensive. There is no other mass public transit system.

Tips: Indian currency is freely accepted in Nepal. However only up to Rs 100 denomination was accepted. So carry enough Rs 100 notes or check if the rules have changed.
